Former President Obama’s personal chef, Tafari Campbell, was found dead after a two-day search in the waters of Edgartown Great Pond in Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts. Campbell was seen struggling while paddleboarding near a home owned by the Obamas on Sunday night.

Campbell, 45, had worked as a sous chef at the White House and had joined the Obama family after the former president completed his second term in 2016. In a joint statement, Barack and Michelle Obama described Campbell as a beloved part of their family, praising his culinary talents and his ability to bring people together with food.

Divers began searching for Campbell on Sunday after receiving a call about a paddleboarder who had gone into the water and appeared to struggle before going under. Unfortunately, Campbell did not resurface. His body was recovered from the pond on Monday, according to the Massachusetts State Police.

Campbell leaves behind his wife, Sherise, and twin sons. The Obamas expressed their condolences and described Campbell as a warm, fun, and kind person who brightened their lives.

The circumstances surrounding Campbell’s death are currently being investigated by authorities. Although Campbell was visiting Martha’s Vineyard at the time, the Obamas were not present.

The tragic news of Campbell’s death has saddened many, as he was not only an esteemed chef but also a valued member of the Obama family. His contributions to the culinary world and his impact on those who knew him will be remembered.
