The ‘Rubiales case’ continues to generate outrage. The former First Division referee Xavier Estrada Fernández has filed a complaint with the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) against its president, Luis Rubiales, for the episodes carried out during the final of the Women’s World Cup, as reported by EL MUNDO and EL MUNDO has been able to confirm NEWSPAPER. Current politician and former professional referee for 12 years, Estrada Fernández requests that the protocol for action on sexual violence against Rubiales be initiated, alluding to his “inadmissible and embarrassing forced kiss” against the player Jennifer Hermoso.
In the complaint to the RFEF, to which EL PERIÓDICO has had access, the facts are specified in such a way: “During the official trophy delivery acts of the recent Women’s Soccer World Championship […]the president of the RFEF, Luis Rubiales, he forcefully kissed her on the lips, while holding her head with both handsto the national team player Jennifer Hermoso, without her consent”.
“Such behavior is absolutely inappropriate and inadmissible, and goes against the provisions of point 4 of the Protocol for Action against Sexual Violence, where said behavior is considered behavior related to sexual violence,” the letter adds.

In the document, Estrada Fernández urges the Federation to apply the action protocol against sexual violence. In addition, the former referee demands the immediate resignation of Rubiales, “since this behavior is unacceptable for a president of the RFEFwho must maintain at all times the utmost respect and decorum towards the institution he represents, as well as in relation to a player subject to the discipline of the RFEF, in respect of which he has exercised an evident abuse of authority, inadmissible in our legal system legal,” he adds.
Estrada Fernández had already sued in his day against José María Enríquez Negreira, former number two of the referees, and his son Javier Enríquez for the payments made by Barcelona for almost two decades.
