The district judge in McAllen, TexasRandy Crane sentenced to three years and one month in prison Denisse Ahumada Martinezformer PAN councilor in Reynosa, Tamaulipas, who was arrested in June 2023 in Texas, with 41 kilograms of cocaine.
The sentence indicates that the former Reynosa official must remain in prison after pleading guilty to possession with intent to distribute approximately 41 kilograms of drugs with an approximate value of almost one million dollars, according to estimates by United States authorities.

In June 2023, Denisse Ahumada was arrested while driving a vehicle from Reynosa, Mexico, to the United States and at the Falfurrias Border Patrol checkpoint, an X-ray inspection of the vehicle revealed the presence of the drug.
The Border Patrol carried out a second inspection of the vehicle and found 37 bricks of cocaine, so elements of the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) were required to interrogate the woman.
Denisse Ahumada intended to get to San Antonio where she would be given instructions on what to do with the vehicle, as she told authorities at the time, and even said that she was threatened.
