Former Vice President-1 of Real Estate and Housing Association of Bangladesh (REHAB) Kamal Mahmud has been expelled. Rehab informed that this decision was taken in the 5th meeting of the board of directors of the organization on Monday (September 23) due to allegations of various irregularities and money embezzlement.

Former vice president of Rehab Kamal Mahmood expelled

According to Rehab, the former vice president of Rehab-1 Kamal Mahmood is the managing director of Skyrose Builders. Rehab formed an investigation committee on August 3 when allegations of various irregularities were raised against him. After the investigation, the committee gave Kamal Mahmud an opportunity to appear at the rehab office on September 19 to verify his statement and involvement regarding the irregularities of 1 crore rupees in rehab along with various complaints. However, Kamal Mahmud did not appear in rehab that day.

Meanwhile, Ministry of Commerce investigated and informed Rehab on December 31, 2018 about finding the truth of irregularities of Tk 1 crore. However, the then council did not take any action in this regard. The current Board of Rehab formed an inquiry committee to re-examine the matter and the inquiry committee verified and found evidence of irregularities. That is why the investigation committee gave Kamal Mahmud an opportunity to defend himself or to know what his statement was. Kamal Mahmood is also accused of financial irregularities in Rehab Training Institute.

The organization has also decided that Kamal Mahmood, expelled from Rehab, and his company, will not be able to take any privileges or conduct real estate business anywhere under the identity of ‘Rehab member’, including seals, billboards and advertisements bearing Rehab membership.
