French footballer Raphaël Varane has announced his immediate retirement. The 31-year-old 2018 world champion only moved from Manchester United to Italian newcomer Como 1907 on a free transfer in the summer. Due to persistent knee problems, Varane has yet to play a single game in Serie A.
Varane announced on Instagram “with great pride and a sense of fulfillment my retirement from the game we all love.”
