Formula 1: Ferrari’s huge mistake at Sainz’s pit stop during the Dutch GP

by time news

Ferrari is not at its first attempt. The Scuderia again messed up a pit stop this Sunday in Zandvoort at the Dutch Grand Prix. Carlos Sainz paid the price at the end of lap 22. The Spanish driver was immobilized for almost 12.7 seconds because his technical team had forgotten one of the four tires to be replaced. A big blunder for the Italian team, which lost almost ten seconds for example compared to Sergio Perez in the pits at the same time.

To make matters worse, Perez’s Red Bull ran over a Ferrari pistol on the way out. The management planned to investigate this incident at the end of the race.

In recent seasons, the Scuderia has fished in this sector of pit stops and in strategy in general for that matter. Beyond three and a half seconds, a pause is considered missed. Charles Leclerc has regularly paid for it. These shortcomings seemed finally resolved.

On Saturday, Max Verstappen took pole in this Grand Prix played at home in front of his home crowd, and already won last year.
