Jeddah: British Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton has clinched the top spot in the qualifying round of the Formula One Saudi Grand Prix International car race in Jordan. The qualifying match was held ahead of the closing round on Sunday night. Hamilton is also the fastest player in the test rounds.

In the qualifying round, Hamilton finished ahead of his Finnish teammate Valerie Botas in 1.27.511 minutes. The Finnish athlete finished second with a time of 1.27.622 minutes. Hamilton overtook the Finnish by 0.111 seconds. Max Verstappen, the Dutch driver who led the Red Bull team, finished third. Verstappen clocked a time of 1.27.653 minutes.

On the last attempt, Verstappen was faster than Hamilton, but could not get ahead as he hit the wall at the end of the track. Had to settle for third place. Charles LeClerk finished fourth with a time of 1.28.054 minutes. Eligibility Drivers will be categorized according to the speed achieved in the competition. These will be the final rounds on Sunday night.
