With slogans such as: “The Judiciary will not fall”, “Mexico listens, this is your fight”, “Zaldívar talker, you are a traitor”, among others, the workers, who since August 19 have been on strike and protesting against the approval of the reform, together with students from Rightthey demanded a dialogue with the Political Coordination Board chaired by the Morena member Adam Augusto Lopez, However, they were not heard.
Questioned about whether they will attend to the request for dialogue that students and workers have asked for, Ernestina Godoy, president of the Constitutional Affairs Committee and future Legal Advisor to the Presidency said that there is no longer any possibility.
“It is difficult, we are already in a moment of parliamentary process in which we are about to discuss the ruling,” he declared, and said that there has been “a lot of dialogue.”.
Even the president of the Senate, Gerardo Fernández Noroña, who yesterday called a session at the old Senate headquarters located in Xicotencatl, which was sealed off with hundreds of public security and riot police to prevent the passage of protesters, also refused to engage in dialogue, “we have already heard them. We already know what they are going to propose, what the officials of the Judiciary are saying.”
Given this situation, the blockade of the Senate by protesters has continued, however, senators and workers have been allowed to enter.
The Senate granted leave to the future Secretary of the Economy, Marcelo Ebrard, to step down from his post and his substitute, Emmanuel Reyes Carmona, was sworn in. It also granted leave to the Morena member Juan Carlos Loera, whose substitute is Luis Mario Baeza Cano.
