Massive Four-Alarm Fire in Industrial Area of Phoenix Prompts Large Response by Firefighters

PHOENIX – A fire broke out in an industrial area west of Downtown Phoenix on August 2, leading to a major response from multiple fire agencies. According to a statement by Cpt. Kimberly Quick-Ragsdale with Phoenix Fire, crews were dispatched to the area of 31st Avenue and Buckeye Road at around 3:00 p.m. after receiving reports of a grass fire that had the potential to spread to a fence.

Upon arrival, firefighters were met with heavy smoke and flames, which quickly spread to nearby industrial properties due to high winds. The escalating situation prompted an upgrade to a four-alarm fire response, as the area contained a significant amount of fuel and presented difficulties for accessing the site amidst the strong winds.

Although fire officials state that the blaze is now under control, crews will continue working into the evening to extinguish any remaining hot spots. Sadly, six individuals were displaced from their mobile homes as a result of the fire.

In addition, three firefighters were injured during the incident. Two of them were taken to the hospital due to heat-related symptoms, while the other suffered a soft-tissue injury. All three are expected to recover.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, and officials have not yet released any details regarding its origin.

Videos from the scene show the intensity and scale of the fire. One video, shared by FOX 10’s Marissa Sarbak, shows the fire burning in the area of 31st Avenue and Buckeye. Another video, taken by SkyFOX, captures the fire at what appears to be a warehouse with multiple vehicles and other large items. The fire reportedly broke out near Lincoln Street and 27th Avenue.

Residents in the area are advised to remain cautious and stay informed about any updates or warnings from local authorities.
