Tear gas and arrests. The event organized at Rennes Saturday which gathered some 600 people, according to the prefecture, ended with four arrests by the police. The demonstrators marched against “Macron, Darmanin and fascism”. The police fired tear gas just a few minutes after the procession left Place de Bretagne, an AFP journalist noted. Very mobile demonstrators then moved towards the Place de la République, threatening to attack a bank branch and a department store.

A hundred demonstrators, mostly young, dressed in black and white, masked and equipped with deployed black umbrellas, led the procession behind a banner on which was written “Against work”. The prefecture had banned the demonstration and deployed several dozen security forces to prevent the demonstration from spilling over into the city center.

Violence against journalists by ultras

Around 5 p.m., while Stade Rennes supporters had planned to parade before the Rennes-Monaco match scheduled for 8 p.m., a photographer and a journalist from West France were also violently taken to task by demonstrators from the group of ultras of the Roazhon celtic kop (RCK), we learned from the editorial staff of the newspaper.

The journalist from West France covering the parade was insulted and ordered “to clear” while demonstrators also attacked a photographer from whom “they tried to snatch the cameras”, according to the same source.
