Four companies offered to build a “hydrogen corridor” from Ukraine to Europe

by time news

Companies operating gas systems in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Germany and Ukraine want to jointly build a “hydrogen corridor” from Ukraine to Germany and other Central European countries, Net4gas spokesman Vojtech Meravi told reporters.

“This idea is a joint initiative of the Slovak company Eustream, Czech Net4gas, German OGE and Ukrainian GTS,” the press secretary quoted RIA Novosti. Companies have already begun to explore the technical feasibility of creating a corridor.

The initiative was tentatively named the Central European Hydrogen Corridor (CVC), which will be used to transport hydrogen from future regions of its production in Ukraine through Slovakia and the Czech Republic to areas of expected high demand in Germany and other EU countries.

According to the initiators of the project, the CVC can be created through partial reuse of the existing gas infrastructure in combination with targeted investments in new specialized hydrogen pipelines and compressor stations, which will make it possible to transport hydrogen over long distances at an affordable price.
