The Police have reported that the “attacker is dead” but they are not sure if he was shot or if “he shot himself”
At least four people have died and several have been injured after a shooting late on Wednesday at Saint Francis Hospital, in the US city of Tulsa, in the state of Oklahoma.
The Police have reported that they have killed the attacker in this event that occurred a week after a shooting in the city of Uvalde left 21 people dead.
“A suspect has been killed. I don’t know at this time if we shot him or he shot himself,” explained Sergeant Richard Meulenberg as reported by the US network CNN.
Likewise, Meulenberg has stressed that “at this point, we can confirm that the attacker is dead” and the agents are checking all the rooms in the building “for additional threats.”
Police are going through “multiple floors” cleaning the building and evacuating victims, Meulenberg said, adding that there are “hundreds of rooms and hundreds of people inside the building” and they are treating “this as a catastrophic scene right now.”
Darin Glodo, of the Tulsa Police Department, told the same network: “We have injuries,” without providing more details on the number of people injured.
Glodo has indicated that the shooting took place mostly on the second floor of the “Natalie Medical Building,” a medical office building at Saint Francis Hospital.
“The agents have immediately gone to the second floor where the shooting took place, when they got there they found a few people with gunshot wounds, a couple of them were dead at the time,” Meulenberg told ABC News.
The suspect had a long-range rifle and a pistol, although it is unknown if he used both weapons. He is a black man, between 35 and 40 years old, but so far it has not been possible to establish his identity or the reason for the shooting.
According to law enforcement sources, a reunification site for family and friends has been set up at Memorial High School west of La Fortune Park.
US President Joe Biden has been briefed on the shooting, a White House spokeswoman has confirmed.
This event occurs after a shooting that left at least 21 people dead on May 24, 19 of them children and two adults, at the Robb elementary school in the city of Uvalde, in the state of Texas, in the south of USA.
