Four people have been indicted for violence in a meeting after the attack, on Sunday June 11, of an elected environmentalist from La Seyne-sur-Mer (Var), seriously injured on the sidelines of a rally of local Reconquest activists, Agence France-Presse (AFP) learned on Friday June 16 after the Toulon prosecutor’s office.
Arrested Thursday morning, they were referred Friday at the end of the day for violence in a meeting resulting in an ITT (total incapacity for work) of more than eight days and placed under judicial control. Their trial is scheduled for July 4, Toulon public prosecutor Samuel Filniez told AFP.
Hakim Bouaksa, elected municipal Europe Ecologie-Les Verts (EELV) of La Seyne-sur-Mer, had filed a complaint on Sunday, presenting a 30-day ITT after being attacked on the sidelines of a « banquet » of Reconquest militants organized in a campsite. The prosecution described his injuries as “very serious”.
Arm fracture and head trauma
The four people arrested are “more like people in charge of running the campsite”also specified the prosecutor, without being able to say if they also had a profile of militants or sympathizers of the far-right party. “The militant side or not is not a determining subject of criminal responsibilities”insisted Samuel Finielz.
The prosecution had opened on Sunday “a flagrance investigation for aggravated violence”, entrusted to the police station of La Seyne-sur-Mer. In a press release, EELV said that Hakim Bouaksa had come to demonstrate “peacefully” against the holding of this rally and that it had been “violently assaulted”suffering, among other things, from a broken arm, head trauma and a sprained neck.
Marine Tondelier, the leader of the environmental party, said on Twitter that he had been “hit by the Reconquest order service” and had asked ” excuses “ to the party of Eric Zemmour. The far-right movement had for its part denied the involvement of its security service. “It was with the campsite staff, exasperated by the blocking and the insults uttered against all their customers, that the latter had an altercation”he had assured.
