Four Massachusetts Schools Ranked in Top 10 Colleges in the United States: WSJ/College Pulse 2024 Best Colleges

Four Massachusetts schools have been recognized as among the top 10 colleges in the United States, according to a new ranking by the Wall Street Journal. The “WSJ/College Pulse 2024 Best Colleges in the U.S.” ranking placed Princeton University in New Jersey at the top spot, followed closely by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in second place.

In addition to MIT, three other Massachusetts schools made it into the top 10 nationwide. Harvard University, Amherst College, and Babson College were all ranked among the best colleges in the country. The ranking, which evaluated the top 400 universities in the US, was developed in collaboration with College Pulse and Statista.

The schools were assessed based on three key factors: student outcomes, learning environment, and diversity. Student outcomes had the most significant weighting at 70%, followed by the learning environment at 20%, and diversity at 10%.

Massachusetts had a strong presence in the rankings, with 22 colleges listed. Impressively, five of these schools made it into the top 50 national rankings. Williams College, Boston College, College of the Holy Cross, and Worcester Polytechnic Institute were among the highest-ranked schools in the state. Other notable Massachusetts schools that earned spots on the list include Wellesley College, Northeastern University, Boston University, and Brandeis University.

Yale University in Connecticut also received high marks, securing the fifth spot on the national list. The complete national rankings of schools can be viewed on the WSJ website.
