In the police custody application, it was stated that the accused in the case of Shah Jahan’s murder were BJP supporters. Naveen, Sujeesh, Anish and Shabarish, who were initially arrested, were given an application by the police to take them into custody. It was stated that the accused were BJP supporters. The custody application also states that the murder was due to political enmity.

The police say that the eight accused are BJP supporters. The BJP has alleged that the police are saying that the accused are BJP supporters because of pressure from the CPM. The four people who were initially arrested in the case were remanded in police custody for six days. Sivarajan, Vishnu, Suneesh and Satish who were arrested yesterday are in remand.
But some of the accused have repeated to the media that they are CPM members.
