Four people, including two owners of Cha Chumuk restaurant and the manager of Kacchi Bhai restaurant, have been sent to jail after remand in the case of the death of 46 people in the fire in the multi-storied building Green Cozy Cottage on Bailey Road in the capital.

On Monday (March 4), Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Tahmina Haque rejected the bail application of the accused and ordered them to be sent to jail.

The accused who went to jail are – Cha Chumuk restaurant owners Anwarul Haque and Shakeel Ahmed Rimon, Katchi Bhai restaurant manager Jisan and Green Cozy Cottage Bhavan manager Hamimul Haque Bipul.

After the two-day remand, on Monday, the investigation officer of the case, Inspector (Investigation) of Ramna Model Police Station, Anshar Milton, produced the accused in the court and applied for detention in jail. On behalf of the accused, their lawyers applied for bail. Bail was opposed by the state. After hearing both sides, the court rejected the bail application and ordered to send him to prison.

On March 2, the court remanded the accused for two days.

A fire broke out at Green Cozy Cottage on Bailey Road on the night of February 29. So far 46 deaths have been reported in this incident. 11 people were injured and are undergoing treatment in hospital. 75 people were rescued alive. Among the dead are 20 men, 18 women and 8 children. In that incident, the police filed a case at Ramna Model Police Station on the charge of negligent death.
