Sub-inspector Bhuminathan of the Trichy Nawalpattu police station was hacked to death yesterday while chasing goat thieves near Pudukkottai.
As the incident caused a great stir in Tamil Nadu, 8 special forces were immediately set up to catch the killers. Private police have been scouring the area near the scene of the incident and its environs along the Trichy district border.
Meanwhile, the personal police today arrested four persons, including two boys, in connection with the murder of Sub-Inspector Bhuminathan.
The personal police rounded up and arrested 4 persons including a 10-year-old, a 17-year-old boy and a 19-year-old youth from Tanjore, Pudukottai. Police are keeping the detainees in a secret location and conducting an investigation.
