Four teenagers killed in shooting

A tragic night was experienced by the commune of Quilicura, in Santiago, Chile, when four teenagers were murdered and three others were seriously injured during a shootout carried out by an armed group. The attack occurred around midnight on Sunday, while the youths, aged between 13 and 17were celebrating a birthday party in a passageway in the Raúl Silva Henríquez neighborhood.

According to reports from prosecutor Daniel Contreras, of the Organized Crime and Homicide Team, a vehicle with between two and four armed subjects got out and He opened fire on the teenagers who were making a campfire outside one of the houses. “We don’t have the exact number of shots, but we can say that there were many, there were bursts of gunfire that these teenagers received,” said Contreras.

Hours after the attack, it was learned that more than 40 shots had been fired.leaving several bullet holes in a nearby blue wall. In addition, ten girls and boys were injured and immediately taken by their relatives to the nearest health center. Three of them, aged 13, 16 and 17, arrived without vital signs.

The young men in serious condition were taken to San José Hospital, where hours later a fourth victim diedalso 16 years old. Three other teenagers remain in critical condition.

Authorities have indicated that it was apparently a fight between rival criminal groups. The whereabouts of the attackers, whose vehicle was found completely burned hours after the attack, are still unknown.
