The Civil and Military Police of Rio de Janeiro are searching for a girl to find Kemilly Hadassa Silva, 4, who has been missing since the early hours of Saturday (9), in the city of Nova Iguaçu, in the Baixada Fluminense region.
The mother claims that she last saw her daughter hours before her disappearance, when she put her to sleep in the room with her siblings, also children.
The police are working on the hypothesis that the girl was kidnapped from her room while she was sleeping. This Sunday morning (10), a man, who would be the child’s second cousin, was detained by residents. Family members told police that he confessed to kidnapping the girl, but investigators said that so far there is no confirmation that he was involved.
In a statement, the Civil Police said that “the investigation is ongoing in the Whereabouts Discovery Sector of the Baixada Fluminense Homicide Police Station. A man was restrained by members of the public and taken by military police officers to the 56th DP (Comendador Soares). He will be interviewed. , as well as witnesses. Agents are carrying out efforts to locate the child.”
The girl lives in a house that is on the same land as another family residence. Her mother left while her children were sleeping and left them in the care of another family member, who lived in the house next door. When she returned, around 5am, she did not find her daughter.
“I gave them dinner, put them to sleep, they slept. Then at half past midnight I left because my sister watches them for me, because we practically live in the same house. Then she watches them for me. When I arrived, she was no longer there. Just the two brothers”, Suelen Silva told journalists, at the police station door.
In a statement, the Military Police stated that they were carrying out searches in the region to locate the child.
