History in the UFC: There are a fairly limited number of fighters in the world of MMA in general and in the UFC in particular, who have fought against each other in more than one event. For the most part, UFC fighters meet an opponent and after the win/loss, they say goodbye to him. There are some cases of a pair of fighters fighting twice, even fewer cases of fighters fighting each other three times, but never has a pair of fighters met in Dana White’s Octagon for a fourth time. Well, now it’s happening.

During the night (between Monday and Tuesday), the organization announced that at UFC 283, which will take place in Rio de Janeiro on January 21, we will have a fourth fight, between Davinson Figueroa, the flyweight champion, and Brandon Moreno, the former champion. This is a rivalry that has thrilled the MMA world so far and is expected to provide us with another great fight, which will determine whether the belt will pass to Moreno once more, or whether Figueirdo will continue to hold the crown.

So, as mentioned, there have been three fights so far between the two, with the first of them, which took place a few months after Figueroa won the title for the first time, ended in a draw by judges’ decision, which left the belt with the Brazilian. In the fight that took place between the two about six months later, Moreno beat Figueirdo, took the belt from him and became the first Mexican champion in the history of the UFC.

Last January, Figueirdo won the match between the two, reclaiming the flyweight title and we all actually have to thank for that, since the Brazilian’s win is what led to this fourth and historic fight, which will take place a year and a day since the last fight between the two. Another chapter, and probably the last between the two, will be written in Brazil on January 21.
