Fragili, the TV series on Canale 5: plot

The story begins with a misadventure that strikes the residents of a nursing home. They are evicted without notice and forced to move to an educational community for orphaned children. Suddenly, they lose their only certainty: the structure that had become home and where they had established relationships, understandings, and friendships.

They will have to turn a new and foreign place into a new comfort zone, so safe that they can call it home. Their endeavor will be complicated by both the shock and, especially, the environment they encounter. They find themselves living with a group of teenagers, each carrying a rather heavy baggage of experiences.

The initial impact will not be the best, and there will be no shortage of friction, misunderstandings, and even heated clashes. However, over time, the elderly and the young will learn to know each other and become a new, large family, where everyone will feel like an integral part. The elderly will become the surrogate grandparents of these strangers whom they will come to consider grandchildren.

The filming and the actors in the cast

Based on a true story, Fragili was filmed between November and December 2023 in the Marche region. The shooting locations were Numana and Sirolo, in the province of Ancona, and the Conero Riviera. The screenplay is written by Bruno Frustaci and Chiara Frustaci, with production by Sunshine Production in collaboration with RTI.

The cast includes various well-known actors, including Massimo Dapporto, Barbara Bouchet, Corinne Cléry, Maurizio Mattioli, Barbara Alberti, Enzo Decaro, Salvatore Misticone, representatives of the “old guard.” The young residents of the educational house are played by Francesco Cassibba, Shaen Barletta, Pepe Lin, Abduul Cisse, and Andrea Vertecchio.

Also appearing are Irene Ferri, Raniero Monaco di Lapio, Crisula Stafida, and Mino Abbacchio. Ferri and Monaco di Lapio are currently involved in two other Canale 5 projects. These are Le onde del passato and Il Patriarca 2, where they portray an ex-singer with a traumatic past and a ruthless lawyer, respectively. Both series will air in the upcoming television season. Ferri also appeared in Fosca Innocenti 2.

Massimo Dapporto, Corinne Cléry, and Barbara Bouchet

Leading the cast of Fragili is Massimo Dapporto. Born in 1945, he is an actor in film, theater, and television who won the audience over with Amico mio. It was 1993, and since then, until 2013, he acted in several series, returning in 2016 with Luisa Spagnoli and more recently with Alfredino – Una storia italiana and Un’estate fa.

For Corinne Cléry, this marks a return to series television. Her last experience dates back to 2010 with Il ritmo della vita. However, she never abandoned television. In fact, she has donned the shoes of a dancer in Ballando con le stelle 5, an intrepid traveler in Pechino Express – Obiettivo Bangkok, a tenant on Grande Fratello VIP 2, and a castaway on Isola dei famosi 2023.

Like Irene Ferri and Raniero Monaco di Lapio, Barbara Bouchet also returns to Canale 5 after Anima gemela, a series broadcast last October featuring Daniele Liotti and Chiara Mastalli.

Barbara Alberti’s new life, from writer to actress

Then, there’s the unusual participation of Barbara Alberti. Born in 1943, she has built a solid career as a writer and screenwriter since the 1970s, later becoming a commentator. Since the 2000s, she has taken on this role in several programs, such as La fattoria, La talpa 3, and CR4 – La Repubblica delle Donne.

She was a contestant on Celebrity MasterChef Italia 2 and on Grande Fratello VIP 4. The turning point in her career came in 2019 when she debuted as an actress in the film La dea fortuna, a role that earned her a nomination for Best Supporting Actress at the 2020 David di Donatello.

In 2022, she appeared in Way – La guerra desiderata and now she is in Fragili. Additionally, in recent months, the film Vangelo secondo Maria was released in theaters, based on her eponymous novel, starring Benedetta Porcaroli and Alessandro Gassmann.

Fragili: Who are Abduul Cisse, Shaen Barletta, and Andrea Verticchio

The “young” cast of the series is represented by Abduul Cisse, Shawn Barletta, and Andrea Verdicchio. Cisse was born in 2000 in Dakar, Senegal, and lives in Puglia, in Bari. After some commercials and a few appearances in short films and music videos, he made his debut on set. In 2022, he appeared in the series Vincenzo Malinconico – Avvocato d’insuccesso, where he plays Farid. He will also return for the second season.

Shaen Barletta made her small screen debut with Don Matteo 10, later joining Prisma – both the first and second seasons – in the role of Veronica. Finally, Andrea Verticchio, a Roman born in 1999, acted in the Rai 1 series L’allieva and in the film L’amore, il sole e le altre stelle.
