After arriving from Manchester City, Fran Torres was officially unveiled today (Monday) at the Camp Nou as the glittering acquisition of Barcelona. The Spaniard stepped onto the grass alongside President Juan Laporta and thanked the fans who came to the Catalans’ open training – a tradition they used to observe every year at the beginning.
“I’m happy to be here, when Xavi contacted me, I wanted to get here even more,” he said Tours To Barça’s TV channel, “The best position for me is in the right wing, but I can play anywhere the coach wants. It is a challenge to get Barça back to its natural place, we have a young team and a lot to learn. It is a dream come true to be at Barça.”
Torres, who will cost Barça 55 million euros in four installments, is still recovering from an injury and after leaving it behind as well, the Catalans will have to find a solution to his listing. They had hoped that extending Osman Dembele’s contract at a reduced salary would solve the problem, but after problems were discovered, Barça would have to find a team for Samuel Omititi and Filippa Coutinho.
“I should be back in two weeks at most,” said Torres, who was presented without a number and revealed the chain of events: “I had a good game with the Spanish team against Italy and then Matteo Alman (the sporting director) contacted my agent.”
