Paris: More than one lakh fish have died off the French coast off the Atlantic. But it is no coincidence that FV Margherys, the world’s second-largest fishing vessel, is reported to have abandoned more than a million fish. They were reportedly released into the sea following a rupture in the trawler’s fishing net on Thursday morning. The cod, which is used for fish oil, was found dead in an area of about 3,000 square meters. The French Ministry of Fisheries has ordered an investigation into the incident. Sea Shepherd France, an environmental group, shared a video of a group of fish floating dead. French Coast Minister Anne Girardin said the shooting was “shocking” and ordered an investigation.
