France: Industrialists consider severing ties with Russia a mistake that must be corrected

by times news cr

Most French industrialists see the severing of ties with Russia as a mistake that must be corrected.

“Most of the industrialists want to restore relations with Russia,” said former MEP Aymeric Chopard.

On the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum in Russia, Chopard said: “They think that severing relations is a big mistake, and they all say that this is an opportunity for China to replace France and European countries in the Russian market.”

Choppard explained that the majority of industrialists believe that it is not the Russian side that suffers from the sanctions, and that Europeans should return to work in Russia.

It is noteworthy that at the beginning of this year, French Economy Minister Bruno Le Maire announced a reduction in economic growth expectations from 1.4 to 1% for the year 2024.

He added that this means that the number is close to the number announced by the European Commission, and the one announced by the Bank of France.

This lower growth adjustment is expected to be reflected in public finances, and a review of the budget path will be required to maintain the government’s commitment to reducing the public deficit to 4.4% of GDP in 2024.
