France inherits Italy in the quarter-finals

The France team will meet Italy in the quarter-finals of the World Cup with a real chance of reaching the half.

The Blue ones are fixed. The women’s XV of France, which finished in fourth place at the end of the group stage of the World Cup in New Zealand, will be opposed in the quarter-finals to Italy, fifth, Saturday in Whangarei (north) at 4:30 p.m. local (05:30 Paris time). Based on this ranking, the quarter-finals were decided according to the following principle: 1st against 8th, 2nd against 7th, etc. They will therefore oppose France to Italy and New Zealand to Wales on Saturday October 29 at the Northland Events Centre, then England to Australia and Canada to the United States on Sunday October 30 at Waitakere Stadium.

The winners of next weekend’s matches will meet in the semi-finals on Saturday November 5 at Eden Park, while the losers will be eliminated from the tournament. France finished in second place in Pool C behind the “Red Roses”, big favorites of the competition, with two victories against South Africa (40-5) and Fiji (44-0) and a defeat against England (13-7). At the previous World Cup in 2017, Les Bleues won the bronze medal.
