France offered technical, legal and institutional support to implement the transitional government’s reform agenda, particularly in anti-corruption, governance and financial system reforms.

France offers to help implement the reform agenda of the interim government

France’s ambassador to Bangladesh, Marie Masdupui, made this proposal in a meeting with Foreign Affairs Advisor M Touhid Hossain at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday (September 5).

Ambassador Marie Masdupui said that with the positive changes in various sectors of the country under the interim government and the gradual improvement of the business environment, more and more French companies are showing interest in doing business and investing in Bangladesh.

In the meeting, the Foreign Affairs Adviser highlighted the longstanding Bangladesh-France bilateral relations and welcomed France’s interest in providing technical assistance to the interim government’s reform agenda.

He assured that the interim government is determined to bring sustainable reforms to increase business, FDI with significant improvements in the labor sector and human rights.

In view of the French Ambassador’s presentation, the Foreign Affairs Adviser expressed strong commitment to prevent human trafficking from Bangladesh to Europe. On the Rohingya issue, he emphasized international pressure on the Myanmar authorities for a sustainable solution to the crisis through safe, secure and dignified repatriation of the Rohingya to their homeland Myanmar.
