The time change takes place on Sunday April 1st. A measure that has often been debated since its arrival in France in 1976.
Move forward one hour to switch to summer time, a familiar gesture since 1976. The time change is appreciated by most French people. Indeed, summer time seduced and should have remained the benchmark throughout the year. In 2019, on a proposal from the European Parliament, a consultation was launched. Out of two million French people, 83.7% vote for the end of the time change and 59.2% choose summer time.
A decision forgotten in the drawers
The measure, voted by MEPs, should have applied in 2021. However, with Brexit, the Covid pandemic and the geopolitical situation, the file is not signed as a priority. Without their signature, the decision is not applicable, so we will have to move the clocks forward one hour tonight and lose a little sleep. Sunday, April 1, at two in the morning, it will therefore be three o’clock.
