Yabusele and Cornelie were the stars of the victory for the blues, constantly posing a threat to Fernandez’s team. Yabusele finished with 22 points, while Cornelie followed with 20. Evan Fournier was crucial at the end (15 points, 3/6 three-pointers). Gilgeous-Alexander put in a great effort for Canada with 27 points.
France started the game better, mainly due to the excellent performance of Isaiah Cornelie, who scored 10 points in less than 5 minutes. Coach Collet’s team quickly built a double-digit lead, prompting Fernandez to call a timeout to awaken his players. The blues consistently held the upper hand and closed the first quarter ahead by 13 (23-10). The French managed to push the lead back into double digits (61-50) by the end of the third quarter; however, the Canadians did not give up and reduced the gap again in the fourth quarter. The French had the necessary solutions at the finish and secured the victory to advance to the semifinals.
