Three people were slightly injured this evening in Lyon when a far-right group tried to force their way into a pro-Palestine event, according to local authorities and eyewitnesses.
One of the perpetrators was arrested, the district said, “strongly condemning the acts of violence.”

Fire and Police on site
By around 20:00 local time, heavy police forces and fire engines had been deployed around the site that was targeted, an AFP journalist who was at the scene said.
Christoph Oberlen, a surgeon who has visited Gaza several times and had just launched his latest two books, said some were “pounding” to open the door of the hall where the event was being held, but were unable to get inside. Many of the attendees said the room, which has a capacity of 120 people, was full. Among those present were the elderly and young children. According to the witnesses, a window was broken.

With crowbars they attempted to raid
Jerome Feiner, the president of Collective Palestine 69, which organized the event, said the attackers were far-right extremists who attacked with “iron rods” and “glass bottles.”
“We were caught in a trap. We put a lot of things to barricade the door,” described a visibly stressed woman.
About 1,200 people demonstrated in the afternoon in Lyon against the far-right, responding to the call of a collective supported mainly by Insubordinate France (radical left) and anti-fascist movements.
