France’s trade deficit in 2023 is expected to still exceed 100 billion euros. And it is not expected to decrease significantly in 2024. How do you explain it?

The deterioration of external accounts that France is experiencing is partly common to that experienced by our major European neighbors. The dynamic is even worse in Germany. On the other hand, it is better in Italy and Spain. Energy remains more expensive than before Covid. Even if we have emerged from the exceptional situation of soaring prices observed in 2022, we have not returned to levels comparable to those we experienced in 2019.
