“I am delighted with this decision, which is a happy event for Morocco and France,” he told MAP.
In a message addressed to His Majesty King Mohammed VI, it is recalled that the French President, Mr. Emmanuel Macron officially announced to the Sovereign that he “considers that the present and future of Western Sahara are part of Moroccan sovereignty.”
In this same message, the French Head of State assures His Majesty the King of “the inviolability of the French position on this national security issue for the Kingdom” and that his country “intends to act in accordance with this position at the national and international levels”.
Mr. Karoutchi stressed, on this occasion, the importance of the commitment of the France-Morocco friendship group in this process.
“For years, the group has been fighting for France, as many European countries have done, to support Morocco’s sovereignty over its Sahara,” he said, recalling the numerous trips made by members of the friendship group to the southern provinces to admire the momentum of socio-economic development in these regions under the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI.
“Through our various initiatives and on the occasion of these numerous trips, we wanted to demonstrate Morocco’s commitment, investments and achievements in the Sahara,” he added.
