Head coach of the Slovak national football team Francesco Calzona revealed some tactical aspects of the Nations League match in Baku.

As reported by İdman.biz, the Azerbaijani team lost to the opponent with a score of 1:3, which allowed the Slovaks to share first place in the group along with Sweden.

“The meeting was not ideal, we allowed a lot to the opponent. It certainly wasn’t a fantastic match. We expected it to be difficult because Azerbaijan is stronger at home. Another thing is that the players were very tired after the game with the Swedes. Therefore, I wanted to replace some players, but for the match in Baku I needed more technical players. Therefore, I used, in fact, the same eleven players as in the previous match,” Calzona admitted in an interview with the Slovak Federation website.

The change concerned one position. Lubomir Shatka replaced the suspended Denis Vavro as a stopper. “I’m happy with Lubomir because he’s a good guy and a great football player. He didn’t play for a long time because he was plagued by injuries, but now he’s back and showed a great game,” Calzona praised him.
