Francis Ford Coppola is selling his private island for a modest sum

The current owner, Los Angeles attorney Terry Tao, owned the island for about 10 years and built the main house, according to Mr. McLean. “Coral Cay has been a happy haven for me and my family,” Mr. Tao said in an email. “The Pacific Ocean and the warm sun were a refuge for all of us and a deep breath of life in this fast-paced world. We celebrated many family milestones there and Coral Cay Island will always be a precious memory in our hearts.”

Coppola bought cottages, as well as a pier that extends into the water to welcome guests from the boat and has a net where they can sit above the water. “Mr. Coppola had friends who came there and stayed with him. Some of those people wanted more privacy,” said the agent handling the deal. “Everyone visited here, from his close friends to movie stars and writers to Saudi princes who came to the island.”
