Racing Club tied 1-1 with Barracas Central, in a match played tonight at the Cilindro de Avellaneda valid for the 21st. day of the Professional Football League (LPF).

The goal for the “Academy” was scored by Aníbal Moreno 20 minutes into the first stage, while Francisco Álvarez from San Juan tied for the “Guapo” at 40 minutes of the second half.

The tie left those from Avellaneda in 13th place with 27 points, while Barracas was left with 24 points in twentieth position.

The team led by coach Fernando Gago came out convinced to take center stage in the match, standing in the rival field and with verticality to bring danger from the start towards the goal defended by Andrès Desábato.

The Paraguayan Matias Rojas took the reins of the team and was well accompanied in attack by Gabriel Hauche and Maximiliano Romero, who wasted some clear chances.

A cross into the area from the right sector by Facundo Mura allowed central midfielder Aníbal Moreno (the “best player in Argentine soccer” according to Maximiliano Rodríguez) to connect with a header to put his team ahead 20 minutes into the game.

After the local goal, Barracas tried to even things out and approached the goal of Gabriel Arias, who was forced to at least respond satisfactorily on a couple of occasions.

Racing at times waited in their field, allowed Sergio Rondina’s team to grow, but also came out quickly on the counterattack to take advantage of the speed of their forwards, although without effectiveness.

The second half was active, with Barracas turning to attack to try to equalize, which allowed him to reach the rival area, like Racing, which also created some danger by taking advantage of the spaces left by “Handsome”.

The expulsion of the Barracas defender Nicolás Capraro, instead of making Racing grow, emboldened the visit, which stopped in someone else’s field and at times cornered him.

A set piece play, at the worst collective moment for Racing, was taken advantage of by the rival, who did not forgive the passivity of the Albiceleste defense to put the final tie with a goal from Francisco Álvarez.

In the final minutes, the locals tried to keep the three points with balls to the area and without ideas against a Barracas who played them equally until the last moment.

On the next day (22nd) Racing will visit Colón in Santa Fe, while Barracas will receive the leader River Plate.
