The Almeria coach Francisco Rodríguez will be the coach of Elche CF until the end of this season, the club from Elche confirmed this Sunday, taking the place of the dismissed Fran Escribá and with the aim of removing the team from the relegation places.

“The Almeria coach and the franjiverde club have reached an agreement to be in charge of directing the first team for the remainder of the campaign,” the entity announced in a statement about the former Almería manager, UCAM Murcia, Lugo, SD Huesca and Girona.

Last Sunday, Escribá announced at a press conference that he was no longer coach of Elche after falling (0-3) against Real Betis on matchday 14 of LaLiga Santander, struck down by the owner of the club for poor results.

The franjiverde box (11) occupies the penultimate place in LaLiga Santander one point from the salvation zone. Pablo Manusovich has been acting as interim coach after Escribá’s departure, but it will be the club’s technical secretary, Sergio Mantecón, who sits on the bench at El Sadar this Monday, since, unlike the Argentine, he does have the UEFA license necessary to lead the team as the head coach in LaLiga Santander matches.
