Franco Colapinto’s Words After His Historic 9th Place in Qualifying: “Very Happy, with Points Chances”

The Argentine driver, who became the first Argentine driver to finish in the top 10 of a qualifying session since Carlos Reutemann in the 1982 Brazilian Grand Prix, expressed his happiness for his performance in Azerbaijan: “It would have been perfect if I hadn’t crashed the car yesterday. A positive weekend, very happy to make it into Q3. I don’t know if we expected it. I wanted to take it step by step, session by session. We were making progress with each lap. I did a very good lap in Q2. For Q3 we made a setup change, but the tires didn’t last the whole lap. It was risky, it didn’t work out. Maybe I could have finished seventh or eighth, a bit happier. It’s very good to reach Q3 in my second qualifying. Great teamwork, grateful to the mechanics. If I’m here, it’s because of them; they fixed the car after the crash I had. It gave me confidence, allowed me to do laps and gain rhythm. A big part of it is thanks to them.”
