Tunis – Morocco is reaping the benefits of its carefully considered strategy, stressed Tunisian political scientist Mohamed Nejib Ouerghi in reaction to the performances achieved by Moroccan athletes during the 9th edition of the Francophone Games, which took place from July 28 to August 6 in Kinshasa.
“Morocco is reaping the benefits of a carefully considered strategy and a pioneering and well-structured sports policy, thus promoting the emergence of a sports elite that has always brought honor to Morocco and given a glowing image of the Kingdom in the concert of developed nations,” this former CEO of the Tunisian press agency “TAP” told MAP.
Mr. Nejib Ouerghi considered that the “exceptional” performances of Moroccan athletes during this international event attest to the success of Morocco’s sports policy, which has always relied on sport as a factor that both unifies and emancipates women. “Morocco wins and proves that the impossible is not Moroccan.”
In this sense, he did not fail to highlight the other notable fact of the Moroccan participation relating to the feat of the Moroccan athletes who won the majority of medals, namely 34 out of 58, including 18 gold.
These results demonstrate the importance of the place occupied by women in the Moroccan sporting landscape, in a country which believes in sport as a unifier and emancipator, he maintained.
He also cited the feat of the Moroccan football team at the last World Cup in Qatar, which still remains in people’s minds, as well as the performances of Moroccan women’s footballers who attracted attention at the FIFA Women’s World Cup, standing up to the world’s great teams, which proves, he said, the quality of the Kingdom’s athletes and the scope of a policy that has allowed the adequate supervision of athletes and the emergence of great names who have brought honor to their country.
