Every December, the time comes to take the pulse of the practice of surfing in Cuba with the celebration of the Piña Colada Tournament, whose final of this 2020 after almost 8 hours of competition, revealed Frank González as the winner. in the Open Surf modality for men.
After the initial and semi-final days in which 16 athletes participated, and then the final on December 26, González was the champion with 7.60 points, beating Yojani Pérez – second place with 6.93 points – and Rigoberto Pajón – with 4.80 points for third place.
The three were awarded with the corresponding trophies, and with an invitation, courtesy of the Organizing Committee, to the next event to be held in the first quarter of 2021 in Chivirico beach, Santiago de Cuba.
The tournament was organized mainly by the Havana Surf Producciones team with Danail Céspedes at the helm, and brought together around 400 spectators on the 70-seat beach, in the Havana neighborhood of Miramar.

According to its organizers, the Piña Colada’s main objectives are to keep the annual ranking of surfers in the capital updated and to keep the development of this activity alive even though it is not officially recognized as a sport in the country.
