From January to October 2021, Russian banks issued mortgage loans worth 4.59 trillion rubles, which is more than for the whole of 2020, data from the analytical company Frank RG reports to RBC. According to the company, in 2020 the volume of mortgages was 4.49 trillion.

The average loan size in October exceeded 3.14 million rubles, which is 14.6% higher than in January, noted in Frank RG. In total, since the beginning of the year, 1.56 million agreements have been concluded with mortgage borrowers against 1.8 million for the entire 2020.

Frank RG’s data for 2020 are comparable to those provided by the Central Bank and Dom.RF for the year – 4.45 and 4.44 trillion rubles. respectively. Government structures have not yet published data on the state of the mortgage market for October.

Earlier, the excess of the 2020 indicator as of October 2021 was reported by Anatoly Pechatnikov, VTB Deputy Chairman of the Board. He estimated that by the end of this year, mortgage loans worth 5.8 trillion rubles could be issued in Russia. Later, the chairman of the board of Sberbank, German Gref, called mortgages “the only way to buy housing for most Russians.”
