Becoming a celebrity chef
As the son of a wholesaler of catering supplies and a snack stand operator, Frank Rosin was born with the catering gene. He helped out with his parents at a young age.
After graduating from secondary school, he devoted himself to training as a chef at the “Monopol” hotel and the “Kaiserau” restaurant in Gelsenkirchen. The young chef then went to California and Spain. This was followed by his first sous chef job on board a luxury cruise ship.
After gaining a lot of experience, Frank Rosin finally set up his own restaurant “Rosin” in 1990, which was first in Gelsenkirchen and then in Dorsten-Wulfen.
His restaurant was named “Restaurant of the Year” by “Der Feinschmecker” magazine in 2009. He also received his first Michelin star in 2003. The second one followed eight years later. However, he had to say goodbye to one of the two stars again in 2023.

Frank Rosin started his career as a television chef in 2008 on the Kabel Eins reality show “The Fast Food Duel”. Since then he has appeared in numerous formats as a coach, juror or guest.
At Kabel Eins he appears as the protagonist of the coaching format “Rosins Restaurant – A star chef cleans up!” From 2010 to 2013, Frank Rosin worked as a juror on the ZDF program “Topfgeldjäger”, which was moderated by Steffen Henssler. In 2022 he appeared with his own new show on the Kabel Eins program, namely “Rosin’s Hero Kitchen”.
As a coach and juror, Frank Rosin was part of the Sat.1 cooking casting show “The Taste” for ten years from 2013 onwards – until he took a break to devote himself to other projects.
But Rosin fans can now rejoice: the star chef is back at the start for the 12th season of “The Taste”!

Frank Rosin is also a member of the “Junge Wilden” cooking association. The aim of the association is to get people excited about cooking and to improve the cooking profession in society.
In addition to being a chef, Rosin also looks after the VIP area at FC Schalke 04.
Frank Rosin in private
The successful restaurateur married his then partner Claudia in 2006, with whom he had a daughter and a son. Together with his eldest daughter from a previous relationship, they lived as a patchwork family – until he announced the couple’s amicable separation in 2019.
Two years later, his mother Marlies Rosin died in March at the age of 82 due to a long illness.
