With Jamal Musiala and Kai Havertz, national coach Julian Nagelsmann already has to do without two stars. Now comes the next injury.

Frankfurt defender Robin Koch apparently will not travel to the DFB team as planned. As the “Bild” newspaper reports, he is struggling with hip problems and will stay in Frankfurt. The association did not want to confirm Koch’s failure when asked by t-online.

On Sunday evening, Koch was on the pitch for the full distance in the top Bundesliga game between his Eintracht and FC Bayern Munich (3:3), but seemed to be in pain in the final phase. After the game he was examined by Bayern and DFB doctor Jochen Hahne.

Frankfurt coach Dino Toppmöller explained that Koch had probably been carrying the hip problem for a long time: “It was actually discussed in the medical meeting that Robin couldn’t play three games this week,” he said. “After his appearances against Kiel and Besiktas, he continued to grit his teeth to be able to play against Bayern,” continued Toppmöller. Toppmöller has already warned whether it makes sense for Koch to join the national team. Now the decision was probably negative.

After Jamal Musiala from FC Bayern and Kai Havertz from FC Arsenal, this is the third injury-related cancellation for national coach Julian Nagelsmann. The debutants Jamie Leweling and Jonathan Burkardt were nominated for them. In addition, Niclas Füllkrug was not even nominated due to an injury. Regular goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen will be out for months due to a torn patellar tendon.

In the Nations League, the DFB team will face Bosnia-Herzegovina next Friday and the Netherlands on Monday.
