Who would have thought that your earlobe says something about your health? Yet it really is. Do you spot a slight groove in your earlobe? This could indicate heart disease.

Heart and vascular disease

Coronary heart disease is a collective term for the most common cardiovascular diseases. Symptoms may include chest pain, difficulty breathing, and palpitations. Are you experiencing these symptoms? It is wise to immediately consult a doctor. However, there is another sign that can indicate that you have heart disease and that is a line or groove in the earlobe that is also called Frank’s Sign.

Dr. Frank

Dr. Sanders T. Frank (after whom the symptom is named) discovered that there is a link between heart disease and a “crease” on one or both earlobes. The groove starts at the top of the earlobe near the tragus and runs down. Sometimes it looks like this line is caused by a piercing. If you have this line in your ear, you often also experience one of the aforementioned symptoms.

Consult doctor

Do you have this line on (one of) your earlobes? Then pay close attention to whether you also suffer from the other symptoms that often come around the corner with heart disease. It does not necessarily mean that you actually have heart disease, but studies do show that there is a connection. So do you have such a line and do you experience the aforementioned symptoms? Then contact your doctor.
