Following the retirement of the previous chairman of the SPAR central works council, Egon Karabacek, Austrian SPAR works councils have elected Tyrone-born Franz Hechl as the new chairman of the SPAR central works council. As a result, there will be a change of personnel on the supervisory board of SPAR AG, where, in addition to Franz Hechl, Günter Zeiner (works advisor of the regional headquarters in Vienna, Lower Austria and northern Burgenland) will take over as employee representative in the future.
Franz Hechl has worked in various positions at SPAR for 37 years. It all started in 1987 when he started his apprenticeship as an office clerk at the SPAR headquarters in Wörgl. Recently, he took on the role of divisional manager for expansion and project development in Salzburg.
It is not just the interests and concerns of SPAR employees that are important to him. In his private life, the new chairman of the central works council is married, has two sons and is a passionate football fan and an official of SV Kirchbichl. He is now looking forward to his new tasks and wants to continue the good collaboration between the representatives of the employees and the management.
“My personal responsibility is to talk to everyone at SPAR and give them advice as best I can on both professional and private problems. I see that as my main task as a works council,” says Hechl and adds “I look forward to continuing the trusting collaboration with employees, management representatives and owners.”
SPAR board chairman Hans K. Reisch is particularly pleased that Franz Hechl, a long-time employee and human resources representative, is accepting the position of chairman of the central works council.
“We are proud to have such a dedicated works council and good representation for our employees. I appreciate the constructive and trusting exchange with Franz Hechl and his team and I look forward to our cooperation. I would like to thank Egon Karabacek for many years of constructive discussions and good cooperation, and we wish him all the best for the new phase of his life,” explains SPAR CEO Hans K. Reisch.
Changes to the supervisory board of SPAR AG
Due to the age-related departure of Egon Karabacek as chairman of the central works council and therefore also as employee representative on the supervisory board, there will be a personnel change on the SPAR AG supervisory board. In addition to Franz Hechl, who already worked as a human resources representative on the SPAR supervisory board, Günter Zeiner, works advisor for the regional headquarters in Vienna, Lower Austria and northern Burgenland, will now also take a seat on the supervisory board. as an employee representative. Bettina Münzer is still represented on the supervisory board as an employee representative, as is Sabine Eiblmaier, who, as chairman of INTERSPAR’s central works council, is an associate member of the SPAR AG supervisory board.
