The convicted person has been deprived of the right to be elected or appointed to positions elected or appointed by state or municipal institutions and their institutions, companies for 3 years, the prosecutor’s office reported.
The Panevėžys District Court imposed this punishment on E. Doviakovskis by criminal order.
In the criminal order of the court adopted on August 9, the court found that E. Doviakovskis, in pursuit of financial gain, abused his official position, falsified documents and, by submitting them to the municipal accounting office, fraudulently acquired property belonging to another for his own benefit – 5 thousand. 990 euros from the funds of the Ignalina district municipality administration.
According to Tomas Dzik, the prosecutor who led the pre-trial investigation, the accused fully admitted his guilt, already compensated part of the property damage caused to the municipality and undertook to compensate the rest.
The criminal order has already entered into force.
The pre-trial investigation was led and controlled by Prosecutor T. Dzikas of the Organized Crime and Corruption Investigations Department of the Panevėžys District Prosecutor’s Office. The investigation was carried out by the officers of the Special Investigation Service (STT).
According to the criminal case, in the years 2019-2023, while serving as a member of the Ignalina District Municipal Council, E. Doviakovskis falsified the council member’s payment advance accounts, presenting in them untrue data about alleged fuel expenses related to the activities of the council member. During the investigation, STT officials found that the travel expenses allegedly incurred were based on fuel purchase receipts from other individuals, without these individuals’ knowledge.
The STT is currently conducting pre-trial investigations into the possible improper use of self-government funds by 26 municipalities: the cities of Vilnius, Šiauliai, Panevėžys and Alytus, Utena, Ukmergė, Kretinga, Ignalina, Mažeikių, Šilutė, Jonava, Lazdijai, Pasvali, Prienė, Telšiai, Radviliškii, Joniškii, Tauragė, Zarasai, Akmenė, Kaišiadorii districts and Birštonas, Marijampole, Neringa, Pagėgiai, Druskininkai municipalities.
