“Today Mr. Fray Vásquez surrendered in a joint effort by the prosecutor’s office with the determined support of the National Police, and we hope that this type of surrender or people who submit to justice can help us unravel once and for all. for all the corrupt intricacies of President Castillo’s government,” he said.

“We hope (that these types of statements) comply with the law and allow us to get out of this jurisdictional impasse once and for all,” Otárola Peñaranda added to journalists.

As recalled, the PNP and the Public Ministry announced this Monday, January 29, that the surrender of Fray Vásquez Castillo, investigated for the ‘Puente Tarata’ case, was achieved thanks to “intense intelligence work” together with Eficcop.

On their social networks, the prosecution detailed that the surrender of Vásquez Castillo, who had been a fugitive from justice since April 2022, was achieved in Puno. An order of 36 months of preventive detention weighs on him.

However, Iván Ramírez, Fray Vásquez Castillo’s lawyer, pointed out that it was a “personal decision” and not a defense recommendation to hand over his client to the authorities.
