Give 20 squat exercises and get a public transport ticket in return. This is the new initiative launched by the city of Cluj in Romania. The Romanian city has decided to encourage its residents to adopt a healthy lifestyle, and also reduce congestion by traveling by local public transport.

The first smart bus stop in Romania was launched in Cluj by the staff of the Ministry of Sports, with the support of the City Hall and Cluj-Napoca Local Council. The so-called “health card” is available to Cluj residents who are given the challenge of doing 20 squats in two minutes.

The project was carried out as part of European Sports Week and aims to encourage the general public to find ways to include sports / movement in their daily routine, and it is not known if the station is still active or was a temporary venture. The free ticket is valid for a single trip on the city’s public transport network.

Typically, such a ticket costs 2.5 rubles (0.5 euros) in Cluj-Napoca. The device set up will measure the squat you performed and count a series of 20 squat drops. When you are done, the machine will issue you a ride on the city bus.
