Chhattisgarh: The Congress leadership is planning to model AAP’s ‘offer politics’ in Himachal. The Congress has stated that if the Congress is voted to power in the upcoming assembly elections, it will provide free electricity and 1500 rupees per month to those aged between 18 and 60 years. The announcement was made by Chhattisgarh Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Bhupesh Bhagal while the issue of Offerpolitics was being discussed at the national level.

The debate on freebies has become more lively after Arvind Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party won a stunning victory in Punjab. Apart from the free electricity and water implemented in Delhi, huge progress is also promised in the health and education sectors.

In Gujarat, where assembly elections are to be held after a year, AAP has come out with the promise of job and unemployment benefits for all within five years.

But the BJP strongly criticizes the free promises made by political parties. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said at a rally in Jharkhand that such promises will hinder the progress and growth of the state and will only help the future growth of political parties. But AAP came against this.

Arvind Kejriwal stated that not freebies, but corruption is the reason for the financial collapse of a state. A loan of Rs 10 lakh crore belonging to your friends has been written off. Kejriwal demanded that such people should be treated as traitors and an investigation should be conducted against them. The real consumers of a state should be its people. Kejriwal also asked what is wrong with providing free water and education.

The Center should be ready to provide free education and health care to all the people of the country. Kejriwal also demanded pension for senior citizens.

Last month, the Supreme Court made it clear that free campaigning during elections is a serious economic issue. It was also suggested that a committee be appointed to look into this.
