The GGD West-Brabant will be vaccinating against HPV for free next Monday and Thursday. Anyone born between 1996 and 2003 can walk into room HD001 at Avans on the Hogeschoollaan in Breda from 09:00 to 16:00 without an appointment.
HPV is short for human papillomavirus and can cause cervical cancer and genital warts, among other things. Cancer of the penis, anus, labia, vagina, and mouth and throat can also be caused by the virus, which you can get through sexual activity. Taking an HPV vaccination protects you against HPV infections.
1500 people per year
Eight out of ten people become infected with HPV at some point in their lives, and annually about 1500 people in the Netherlands get cancer as a result. The vast majority can be prevented with a vaccination.
If you are unable to come to Avans for an HPV vaccination on one of the two days, you can here make an appointment yourself to take the vaccine at a different time and location.
