In the French city of Montauban in southwestern France, 150 farmers staged a protest with tractors at night, farmers dumped waste and tires near the local government building.

As Day.Az reports, French media write about this.

“On Wednesday evening, demonstrators again gathered in front of the offices of various government services. As during previous demonstrations in January and February, a variety of waste was dumped,” the article says.

To ensure law and order near the government building, a significant number of police officers from the special squad for suppressing protests (CRS) were deployed, the publication reports.

However, the farmers drove past and continued on their way towards the departmental territorial planning department, where only a few law enforcement officers were stationed, the material says.

The protesting farmers were unable to enter the street where the main entrance to the department is located due to pre-installed concrete blocks, after which a group of demonstrators unsuccessfully tried to ram another door of the building with a tree trunk.

As a result, farmers dumped the contents of several of their trucks at the beginning of the street and on the embankment, and an hour later they headed back to the prefectural building, where they continued their protests.

In France, farmer protests have gained momentum in recent weeks. Protesters blocked key highways, blocking traffic with tractors, haystacks and piles of manure. Farmers also bombarded prefectures and government buildings with manure and waste. They demanded recognition of the importance of their activities and condemned government policies in the agricultural sector, which, in their opinion, make them uncompetitive.
