The French Football Federation (FFF) confirmed on Thursday that it was the victim of a cyberattack resulting in the theft of data belonging to its members. The incident underscores the escalating threat of cybercrime targeting sporting organizations globally.

The FFF stated that the attack focused on software utilized by clubs for administrative tasks,specifically the management of registered member facts. According to a statement released by the federation, the breach involved a “cyber-malicious act and a data theft,” though the exact number of individuals affected remains undisclosed.

The unauthorized access was reportedly achieved through a compromised account,but the issue was swiftly addressed once detected. “The FFF’s services took the necessary steps to secure the software and the data, notably by immediately disabling the account in question and resetting all user-account passwords,” a senior official stated.
